To ensure clinicians gain the greatest value from the course, its important that candidate groups represent a realistic trauma team. As part of the booking process, you will be asked to select your current speciality. We kindly ask that you choose the option that most accurately reflects your current role.

Maintaining an appropriate balance of specialities is important to the learning experience for all attendees. For this reason, bookings made under an alternative speciality category that does not accurately reflect your current role may not be eligible for admission to the course. Eligibility Criteria

This course is designed for ST4+ doctors, ACCPs, and senior nurses working in Emergency Medicine, PHEM, Anaesthetics/Critical Care, and Surgical Specialties. Doctor candidates should have completed either ATLS or the European Trauma Course prior to attending. Please see our terms and conditions for more information.

South West Study Leave

We are working to put Clamshell Bristol on the approved course list for training for each relevant speciality. If Clamshell Bristol is not on the approved course list for your speciality please email your TPD, and training programme administrator and request that it is placed on the approved course list.

The Bristol Resuscitative Thoracotomy Course is a:

• Category 1 course for anaesthetics SIA in trauma/stabilisation, ICU or PHEM

• Category 2 course for anaesthetists ST4+

Please ensure you check with your deanery regarding course funding prior to booking.
