Their work highlighted key aspects of emergency thoracotomy education, simulation training, and multidisciplinary team learning — all central themes of the Bristol Clamshell course. It was an excellent opportunity to share experiences, discuss evolving practice, and contribute to the growing conversation around improving preparedness for the management of traumatic cardiac arrest and major thoracic trauma.

We are proud to share that Dr Jack Dryburgh-Jones and Dr Emma Low Low, both Severn Resident Anaesthetists, presented their respective Bristol Clamshell projects at the Society for Education in Anaesthesia (SEA UK) National Education in Anaesthesia Conference.
As a committee, we strongly encourage members of our faculty and wider team to undertake high-quality educational, simulation, and research projects related to emergency thoracotomy training. We believe that sharing knowledge and experiences is essential in improving clinical care, supporting healthcare professionals involved in these challenging cases, and promoting team wellbeing following high-stakes resuscitation events
We are also delighted that Dr Jack Dryburgh-Jones and Dr Julia Pasztorova will be presenting Bristol Clamshell work internationally at the upcoming Heart Congress in Kuala Lumpur. This represents another exciting opportunity to showcase the importance of structured emergency thoracotomy training and to continue building collaborative discussions with colleagues from around the world.
We look forward to continuing to develop and share educational projects that support clinicians working in trauma and resuscitation medicine.
